Tutoring Resources

ECAS

The Engineering Center for Academic Success (ECAS) hosts tutoring for a variety of EECS classes every week. If you need assistance in ENGR 101, EECS 183, 203, 280, 281, 370, or 376, please seek assistance through ECAS! ECAS also offers group learning sessions known as Supplemental Instruction.

Individual tutoring

If you feel that you would benefit from private tutoring from another CSE undergraduate student, please fill out our request form. Our goal is to connect you to the appropriate campus resources, which could include the individual tutor list that will be available by the end of September each academic year. The Google Form linked will accept responses after the first three weeks of the semester.

Our tutoring connections are compiled as a courtesy to help connect students with peers offering tutoring services, some of which may be fee-based. Once connected, you should contact tutor(s) and discuss availability, cost, and other details.

HKN drop-in tutoring

The members of HKN offer drop-in help sessions for entry-level EECS courses as follows: EECS 183, EECS 203, EECS 215, EECS 216, EECS 270, EECS 280, EECS 281, and EECS 314. Tutors can also help with ENGR 101.

Tutoring is available during the WN23 term for EECS 183, 203, 280, 281, 215, 216, 270, 314 and ENGR 101 on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 – 3:00 PM via Zoom.

TBP 1:1 tutoring

Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

The SWE U-M Chapter hosts a variety of academic and professional development opportunities, as well as community events and outreach. A master list of SWE events can be accessed via their Google Calendar.

For new students/SWE members, the chapter also offers SWEetmates, a semesterly peer mentorship program granting advice towards navigating college, internships, and being a woman in STEM. SWE also offers Corporate Information Sessions (CIS), an exclusive opportunity to interact with recruiters from companies like Boeing, Meta, and Texas Instruments, that are open to all UM students. Add the CIS Google Calendar to see a full schedule of company sessions (Food is often provided!).

Student Mentorship Program

Computer science, computer engineering, and data science majors are eligible to participate in the RENEW CS free, student-run peer mentor program for women and non-binary students in computing. RENEW CS helps underrepresented genders succeed in the introductory computer science courses: EECS 183, EECS 203, and EECS 280.
