Come celebrate Homecoming weekend with CSE on September 13 and 14!

Activities for CSE alumni will include lunch in the department, a Homecoming lecture by CSE’s 2024 Alumni Merit Award Winner, and a pre-game tailgate hosted in conjunction with the U-M School of Information.

Friday, September 13

Alumni Lunch in the Department – includes Game Ticket Raffle

Join CSE Chair Atul Prakash, CSE faculty, CSE graduate students, and 2024 CSE Alumni Merit Award Winner Dimitri Dolgov for lunch in the department. Dolgov is the co-CSE autonomous driving technology company of Waymo.

Luncheon attendees will have the option of entering a raffle to receive a pair of tickets to the Homecoming football game, courtesy of CSE.

Lecture by Dimitri Dolgov

Dimitri Dolgov, the co-CEO of Waymo, is the CSE Alumni Merit Award Winner for 2024. Dimitri will give a lecture for alumni, faculty, and students.

The lecture will take place on Friday, September 13.
Time and place to be announced.

Bio: Dimitri Dolgov (PhD CSE 2006) is the co-CEO of Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things to get where they’re going.

Dmitri is one of the founders of the Google self-driving car project, which began in 2009 and became Waymo in 2016. As co-CEO, Dmitri is responsible for overall company strategy, with his primary focus on the development and deployment of the Waymo Driver, based on a custom, in-house designed, fully autonomous technology stack.

Dmitri previously served as Waymo’s CTO. Prior to Waymo, Dmitri worked on autonomous driving efforts at Toyota and at Stanford as part of Stanford’s DARPA Urban Challenge team.

Dmitri received his B.S. and M.S. in Physics and Math from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

UMSI & CSE Tailgate

CSE and the U-M School of Information (UMSI) will soon be neighbors when both units occupy the new Leinweber Computer Science and Information Building, which will open in 2025.

Join us for a joint UMSI & CSE Tailgate before Michigan takes on Arkansas State at the Big House. CSE and UMSI alumni and their family and guests are invited to join us for BBQ and fun before the game. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for free.

9:00am – Noon
Ferry Field
Directions to the tailgate tent will be provided to registered guests the week of the event.
U-M football game day parking information. Parking can also be found in downtown Ann Arbor and at private residences near the stadium.
