As a student you have sat through thousands of lectures and in the future you will probably give hundreds of technical talks. Surprisingly, in graduate school, there is little formal instruction on how to give a good technical talk. In this presentation, I will give tips and ideas on how to structure a pretty good talk. I’ll give you do's and don’ts, as well as techniques to help you communicate your ideas and engage the audience. The best I can do is help you give a “pretty good talk” with advice on the preparation and presentation of the talk. You have to do the rest by doing great research.
