Abstract:
I will talk about:
(1) How we have made tremendous progress on the 3 R’s of computer vision: Recognition, Reorganization and Reconstruction
(2) How rich perception, not just vision but also touch, coupled with learning is making meaningful progress on robotic manipulation and navigation
(3) How “high-level cognition” grounded in sensorimotor reality is still a distant dream, but one where “Turing’s Baby”, a research program inspired by insights from child development offers considerable promise.
