GM has recently made several battery-related announcements that involve the University. The company is funding a $5 million Advanced Battery Coalition for Drivetrains at the College of Engineering, and it has formed a partnership with the College to train battery engineers through the Energy Systems Engineering program.
Denise Gray, a Detroit native, is responsible for advance development, design, release, and validation of battery system solutions for GM hybrid and range extender vehicles. Gray has been quoted as saying, "the E/E (electrical engineering) discipline will be an enabler for making vehicles the best they can be."
